The Clawson Trojans hosted St. Mary of Royal Oak, and St. Paul on the Lake of Grosse Pointe for an early season invite.
The run was held at Clawson City Park and the athletes raced either 1 or 2 miles. No team scores were kept.
In the girl’s mile, Maddie Pfaff took the top spot with a time of 8:15. This was her first cross county race and the 6th grader is looking forward to longer races with more hills this season. Only 7 seconds back on Maddie was fellow 6th grader Lana Wilder. Ellie Maurer and Addison Hill (also 6th graders) had strong debuts, setting personal records for the distance.
On the boy’s side, Luke Decker of St. Mary of Royal Oak won the 1-mile with a time of 6:41. Oliver Wisniewski finished 7 seconds behind to claim 2nd. All 13 finishers of the boy’s 1 mile were from St. Mary.
Most of the Clawson Middle School Boys opted to run the 2-mile race. Kyle Robbins led the way with a time of 13:45. Gabe Stevens was 4th overall in 15:03. The 6th though 9th spots were captured by Luke Wilder, Jude Maurer, Jackson Sines, and Logan Meeks. This was the first cross country meet for both Jackson and Logan.
8th grader Josh VanWagoner was looking for a longer run and chose to race the full 5k. He was the sole middle schooler to complete the distance and finished in a respectable 25:16.
